Curtains give your home that finishing touch of style, extra insulation and a cosy atmosphere, and made-to-measure curtains mean you can enjoy all that in any window, in the colour or print that fits your décor. Of course, it's vital that you order the right size, so why not take a look at our measuring guide to make sure? REQUIRED WIDTH OF EACH PIECE approx.
+-25cm = WIDTH OF POLE OR TRACK. Example: If the track width from end to end is 150cm, you need approximately 150cm width for each piece of curtain. This will be enough to cover your windows and for a nice pleat and wave effect. You will only need to order up to the next closest up from your measurement. In this example, order Max 200cm width in the dropdown list - single measurement.
Sometimes, depending on styles, we adjust width to a whole number up to 25cm increments/decrements for clean pleats. REQUIRED DROP (EYELET) = Length from top of pole to where you want to finish at the bottom.
REQUIRED DROP (PENCIL PLEAT) = Length from bottom of gliders (ring) OR top of track to where you want to finish at the bottom. Please allow at least 5-8cm gap between curtains and floor level. Step One: Calculate the width. Measure the full length of your track or pole and NOT SIMPLY THE WINDOW ITSELF.Use your track or pole width to calculate the required width for your curtains. You will be unable to adjust the width of the curtains once they are made, so it's important that the width measurement is as accurate as possible. If fitting a new track or pole, this should extend 15cm to 20cm either side of the window and at least 15cm above. We recommend ordering twice the width of your pole or track to create a nice pleat and wave.
For a curtain pole simply measure the width of the pole between any finials or end caps. For a standard curtain track simply measure the full width of the track. If your track has an overlap in the centre, measure the full width of the track (a) and the width of the overlap (b).Add the two together and that is you final width. Step Two: Calculate the finished drop. Curtains can be hung either to the floor, to the sill or to below the sill. We suggest that curtains finish either. 15-20cm below the sill (or 5 cm above the radiator).
2-4 cm above the sill. Allow a small amount of space at the bottom of the curtains, to ensure they don't drag at the bottom and mark or fray. When using a curtain pole, measure from the underside of the decorative ring to where you want the curtain to finish at the bottom. When using a curtain track, measure from the top of the track to where the curtain is to finish at the bottom. Please note that the curtain track and pole is not included. So that we can call you in case we need to clarify your order details. Message us if you are unsure, we will be able to give you advice.
